We all like new things, and 1400 is about to have a significant shift in afternoon programming.
First, I will be moving my show, The Watercooler, to Saturdays at 11am beginning next Saturday. There are a lot of reasons for this, primarily in that the new show will run 2-6pm, but I also wanted to keep something based in Eau Claire on the air. During the week, in addition to my job as the web/IT guy, I'll provide area sports updates during the day, keep content fresh on our websites and social media, and conduct interviews and features at the end of the week to continue a local show tradition that's gone back almost five years.
Second, we will be partnering with Wissports.net to bring you a Friday night football show, called... Football Friday Night. (See what we did there?). Travis Wilson and others will host it. We'll air it after our coverage ends each Friday night the rest of the season for football.
Third, we brought back BTN Live. I know this space is shameless plug central, but I really like the show. Most of their hosts have been guests on our local shows too. It covers the Big Ten.
Fourth, and I know this list is getting long, our seasonal feature shows for the Packers (In The Huddle) and Badgers (Gary Andersen Show, Bo Ryan Show, etc) will all continue.
Finally, the big announcement. The Mike Heller Show will now be heard in Eau Claire beginning August 18! Mike hosts the show along with Ted Davis, who calls Milwaukee Bucks games, on The Big 1070 in Madison and The Big 920 in Milwaukee. You've already heard Mike on 1400--he has filled in for Dan Patrick several times this year. The show will air from 2-6pm daily on 1400 WBIZ.
As the program director, I always welcome your questions, comments, concerns, and feedback. Email me at JamesKaska@ClearChannel.com and I will respond to you within a day.
Thanks, and don't forget that our local sports season kicks off on August 21 as La Crosse Central heads to Carson Park to battle Eau Claire North!
PS: Fans of Steve Gorman Sports: you can find Fox Sports Radio on iHeartRadio to continue listening to the show.
