Bride Sues American Airlines For $3.4 Million For Ruining Her Wedding Dress

Yewande Oteh always dreamed of getting married at her grandparents' hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica and two years ago, she got that chance, but something happened on the way there that ruined the whole experience - American Airlines allegedly destroyed her wedding dress so she's suing them for $3.4 million.

According to the lawsuit, Oteh and her family departed from Philadelphia International Airport and were told by a ticket agent that Yewande should take her dress out of her luggage and hang it in a closet on the plane. However, flight attendant Melanie Masters wouldn't let her since the closet was for employees only. Masters allegedly got "indignant and agitated" and suggested Oteh stow the dress in an overhead bin in first class.

Oteh claims she tried to keep an eye on the bin the dress was in but it was hard because she thought she wasn't allowed in first class. However, she says she did see Masters and another attendant open the mostly empty bin at one point and speak with a third attendant. When Oteh arrived in Jamaica, she found the white gown terribly stained with red wine.

Oteh feels the flight attendants "egregiously" ruined her gown so she's suing for "willful and wanton conduct" that "caused a lifetime of damage," citing American Airlines' negligence, their infliction of emotional distress and more.

Masters said the events "really didn't go like that at all." American is reviewing the suit.
